The Alvin Yellowjackets got the win over the Pasadena Eagles in six innings last night in Pasadena. Gavin Alvarez was a single short of hitting for the cycle, but ironically, it was his three-RBI triple that resulted in a 13-3 run-rule of the Eagles to end the game before he had the
opportunity for another at bat.
Corben Henry got the win with five innings of work, allowing only three hits and three walks. Cody Howell pitched to four batters in final-inning relief, striking out two and allowing no hits or runs. Every Yellowjacket batter reached in the contest, and none recorded strikeouts.
Notable offense includes Alvarez: 3-4, HR, triple, double, 7 RBI, 2 runs; Gunner Olszewski: 2-4 (including a bunt single), RBI, 2 runs; Henry: 2-3, sac bunt, 2 runs; Sean Farrell: 2-4, RBI, 2 runs; Beau Olsovsky: double; Logan Haley: double, 2 RBI, run.
Notable defense includes three putouts by Gavin Alvarez (RF); a 6-4-3 double play turned by Rico Luna (SS), Nathan Collins (2B), and Logan Haley (1B); and an outfield assist from centerfield to home from Sean Farrell (CF) to Beau Olsovsky (C).
The Yellowjackets meet the South Houston Trojans Tuesday, March 31 at 7:00 p.m. at Nolan Ryan Field.
