The Alvin High School Yellowjackets Baseball are now 3-0 in district with their 6-2 win against the Pearland Oilers on 3/19/2013.
For Varsity, Russell Ivy was the winning hurler for Alvin, with Tristan Deriso pitching four innings with five strikeouts. Gerreck Jimenez led the team offensively, going three for four with three RBIs, including a three bagger and a two-RBI single. Joesph Riley and Tim Burr both went two for three, including Burr’s two-RBI double. Goins tallied the loss for Pearland.
The JV team also won their match against Pearland, bringing home a 5-3 victory. Joey McDonald got the win, with Alex Lawson pitching 5.33 innings with five strikeouts and only two runs. Sean Farrell and Rico Luna scored four of the five Alvin runs, with Farrell getting a clutch hit in the 6th to bring in the tying run by Gunner Olszewsky. Farrell then scored on a passed ball to Chase Duplechin. Duplechin knocked in Luna with a grounder past short to give Alvin the fifth run, and McDonald kept Pearland hitless in the 7th, giving the Yellowjackets the win.
Both Varsity and JV are now 3-0 in district.
Are you not able to get the information regarding the Varsity Games on a timely basis? If so, you can receive a post game recap via Game Changer or from Rob Nelson that will allow you to post the results from all games immediately after they have been completed. I just noticed that the game from 3/26/2013 has not yet been reported on within the alvinbaseball.org site. No need to reply but you may want to check out the above to enable a more timely posting of games as they are completed as many college coaches, scouts etc. do check our website for updates. Thanks
Hi Varsity Parent,
I appreciate the feedback, and I’m glad that you enjoyed this particular article. I enjoyed writing it. However, I am a volunteer with a small business and another career as well, and I do not always have the time to research or write about every event. (I only wrote this one because I get very “enthusiastic” about our games with Pearland!)
That being said, I completely agree with you that this website should be the authoritative resource for information on Yellowjackets Baseball. If this change is to happen, I will need some more help to add content. (Almost all content for the site comes from input from others, mostly Coach Rogers.)
If you would like to volunteer to put an article together after each varsity game, I would be very happy to post it as soon as I receive it. Pictures would be great too! Don’t worry too much about grammar, punctuation, and so forth. I’m a writer and editor by trade, so you can be sure that your article will see my virtual red pen before it is posted.
If you are interested, let me know, and I’ll send you my email address.
Thanks,
Karen
